Looking for participants

backyart is looking for artists!

We are always looking for any artists who are interested in submitting any form of creative expression- be it puppeteering, writing, singing, drumming, saxophoning, guitaring, painting, funny face making, etc...

For this upcoming summer season, we are looking for some specific acts as well. If you are a musician, performance artist, or dancer and would like to participate at backyart this summer please let us know. We would love to incorporate more of these types of art and would love to have YOU be who we incorporate.

Also looking for visual artists of all kinds- particularly those artists interested in creating site specific installations in our backyard and using the space as creatively as possible.
Please e-mail backyart@gmail.com if you are interested.

Love as per usual,
Lia

What a great night we had!

Hey all!

Just wanted to thank everyone who came out on Saturday for our Film Frenzy and give a special thanks to everyone who participated in both NYC and Dublin. It was a really fun night.

J. Anthony Roman read his third chapter of "Belated Apocalypse" in which we met Leah, Mikey's mom and learn about her interests in Mikey's education. We also learn more about Gerald, his jaded look on life and his ability to kill if need be.

We spent the rest of the night eating popcorn and awarding paper plates to participants of The backyart/Attic film festival. We learned a couple of things about these 2 places:

1-Dublin values production value more than we do.
2- NY somehow values bizarre sexuality.
3- Everyone thinks of bravery differently.
4- They don't get drunk in Dublin until after their festivals- CRAZY!

Make sure to check us out next month for April's OpenHouse Art Attack. It will be an all day festival with our first art opening showing off the talents of some boys from Boston and with a DJ, rapper and hopefully some krump dancers. Does anyone know any krump dancers?

More info coming soon.

Lots of love
Lia

February 2009 backyart

Thanks to everyone that came out last weekend. We had a great night with "Dark Heart of Meteorology" and chapter 2 of Anthony J. Roman's novel "Belated Apocalypse". Love it! Neurotic weathermen and Valentine's Day breakups. That's what I call backyart. Anyway thanks to our wonderful participants and guests. We had a great night with cupcakes, crafts, friends(new and old- silver and gold), and wonderful art. Pictures will be up very soon!

Love
Lia (and Max and Maria in spirit)
